How much does wildfire home hardening cost?
Defensible space clearing typically ranges from $1,500–$6,000. Home hardening upgrades (vents, roofing, siding) range from $5,000–$35,000. Many states offer rebates and grants.
Is defensible space required by law?
Yes, in most Western states. California PRC 4291 requires 100 feet of defensible space. Oregon SB 762, Colorado, and other states have similar requirements with mandatory inspections.
How quickly can I get an assessment?
Most contractors offer free assessments within 1–2 weeks. During fire season (June–October), we recommend booking early as contractors fill up quickly.
Will home hardening lower my insurance?
Documented defensible space and home hardening can reduce non-renewal risk by up to 40%. Many insurers now require compliance documentation for renewal.
Which states do you serve?
We serve all 11 high-risk Western states: California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
What's the difference between defensible space and home hardening?
Defensible space is vegetation management (clearing brush, trimming trees). Home hardening is structural upgrades (ember-resistant vents, Class A roofing, fire-resistant siding). Both are essential.
